This Privacy Policy explains how US BARK Rangers (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our web application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign in, we collect your email address and basic profile details provided through your chosen sign-in method (for example, Google or email authentication).
Your activity in the App: Parks and sites you mark as visited, saved trips, scores, badges, settings, and similar progress data you create.
User content: Photos or images you upload to tools such as the watermark feature. Image processing for the watermark tool happens in your browser; we do not store your uploaded photos on our servers unless a feature explicitly says so.
Location: If you grant permission, we use your device location to center the map and show nearby parks. You can decline or revoke this in your browser or device settings.
Payment information: If you make a purchase, payment details are collected and processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
Technical data: Basic device, browser, and usage information, and locally stored data (such as your settings) kept in your browser to make the App work.

2. How We Use Information

To provide, operate, and improve the Service and your saved progress.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To process purchases and provide premium features.
To respond to your requests and provide support.
To protect against fraud, abuse, and unlawful activity, and to comply with legal obligations.

3. Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party services to run the App, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, and hosting), map and routing providers, and payment processors. These providers process data on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

The Service uses your browser's local storage and similar technologies to remember your settings, keep you signed in, and record acknowledgments (such as the first-open disclaimer). These are used to make the App function and improve your experience.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below. Some information may be retained where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can access and update much of your profile and progress data within the App.
You can control location and notification permissions in your browser or device settings.
You may request a copy or deletion of your personal data, subject to applicable law, by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes may be highlighted in the App. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
